Mililani's Holiday Season, Sorted by Which Events Need an MTA Card

October 22, 2026

On Friday, October 30, Recreation Center 5 on Ainamakua Drive hosts two rounds of Halloween Bingo, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It's free, and the Mililani Town Association says it's exclusively for MTA members. The next morning, Mililani Shopping Center runs its Halloween Promotion from 10 a.m. to noon, and you don't need a card to get in.

The rest of the season works the same way. From now through December 12, Mililani has three separate event calendars. Most of the small, sign-up events with a limited number of seats run through MTA, and a membership rule decides who gets in. The big public events run through the shopping center and the Mililani Lions Club. On December 5, all three calendars fill the same Saturday.

Three calendars, and the card that splits them

MTA runs the numbered recreation centers, and this fall its events are at Rec 5, 95-1101 Ainamakua Drive, and Rec 6, 95-1010 Konaku Street. Mililani Shopping Center holds a farmers market every Friday and plans promotions around Halloween and the parade. The parade has a sponsor of its own. On the City and County of Honolulu's 2026 street-usage schedule, the sponsor is listed as the Mililani Lions Club.

The MTA ID card is what separates MTA's calendar from the other two. According to MTA's ID card page, one card is enough for a household. A new card costs $6.50 and a renewal costs $5. Guest passes are $12 per person per day, and guests have to be with a member. Homeowners can add family members who live on the property, and they can transfer recreational privileges to tenants using MTA's homeowner forms. If you rent in Mililani Town and want to go to the Pet Fair, ask your landlord about that transfer form well before November.

November is the members' month

MTA's two November events each have their own rules about who gets in, and both rules decide your plans before the dates do.

The 2026 MTA Pet Fair runs Saturday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rec 6. It's free, with parking in the Rec 6 lot and on the street. The event page says it is open to "MTA Members & their guests only," so a member can bring a friend who lives outside the association. The vendor list is long and nearly all local:

  • Pet goods and services: Aloha Petit Chien, Bailey's Bites 808, The Bunny Barber HI, Chop Chop Chews, Hawaii Rabbitry, Live 4 Clips, Main St. Pet Visits, Pawloha, Paws for Aloha, Pitter & Paws, Pupcake Party LLC, Thunderpaws LLC and Tsunami Paws
  • Rescue: Hina's Legacy Rescue Foundation
  • Food: Mandy's Munchies, MIXT and Pepitos

Activities include a mini agility course for pets, a pet-name charm craft, pup cups and a pet photo keepsake. The giveaway is for members only, with one entry per household, and you have to enter at the fair. The winner has until November 27 to pick up the prize at the MTA Admin Office, 95-303 Kaloapau Street. Pets must stay leashed the whole time.

The Gyotaku Workshop on Saturday, November 21, has the strictest rules of the season. Henry & Roy will lead participants in making prints from real fish at Rec 6. The ticket includes instruction, materials, a framed print, pupu and refreshments. Tickets cost $130 each and only MTA members can buy them, through WebTrac. Each session holds 20 people and needs at least 10 to run. The listing shows a 9 to 11 a.m. session and a second one that ends at 2 p.m. The listing prints the second session's start as "12:00 am," so check the time in WebTrac before you book. The date to remember is November 6, when tickets become nonrefundable.

That same morning, the public option is the MHSAF Holiday Food & Craft Fair. It runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Central Theatre Arts Academy, 95-1200 Meheula Parkway, and the event listing counts more than 220 food and craft vendors. A household with one member card could split up that day, with one person at a fish-printing table on Konaku Street and the rest shopping on Meheula Parkway.

December 5, in order

On December 5 the public calendar and the member calendar finally overlap, and the day is long.

  1. 8:30 a.m. Roads begin closing. The city schedule lists the Mililani Ohana Holiday Parade route as starting at Mililani High School and running along Kipapa Drive, Moenamanu Street, Kuahelani Avenue, Meheula Parkway and Lanikuhana Avenue to Mililani Town Center. Roads are expected to reopen around 11 a.m. The city expects about 1,500 marchers, 80 vehicles, five floats and two bands. The city page lists the permit application as submitted, so the closure times may still change before the parade.
  2. 9 to 10:30 a.m. The parade. Mililani Shopping Center calls it the 39th Annual Mililani Holiday Parade and promises marching bands, beauty queens and holiday floats. If you live along Meheula Parkway or Lanikuhana Avenue, the parade passes your block, and any errand by car before 11 a.m. will need a detour.
  3. 10 a.m. to noon. Christmas Promotion at Mililani Shopping Center. It starts half an hour before the parade's listed end time, and the center bills it as the event to come to after the parade. It includes free horse-and-carriage rides, a visit with Santa, prize drawings, free Christmas crafts for keiki 12 and under, and holiday deals from many of the center's merchants.
  4. 4 to 9 p.m. MTA Holiday Craft Fair at Rec 5. It's listed as free. The event page doesn't give details yet and doesn't say whether it's for members only. Judging by the Pet Fair and Bingo, bring your card in case it's checked.

Holiday Bingo follows a week later, on December 12. MTA's page still says details are coming soon.

The rec centers carrying the season, and the ones that aren't

Every MTA event this fall is at Rec 5 or Rec 6, and the rest of the network is still recovering from a rough couple of months. Hurricane Lowell made its closest approach on the night of September 7, according to the National Weather Service. MTA closed all of its facilities on September 8 so staff could inspect them and clear debris. On October 10, MTA posted that Rec Center 4 is closed until further notice, with no reason or reopening date given. Two days later, it posted that contractors were removing several trees damaged in recent storms along the walkway from the Gazebo to Ravine Park, and the walkway would be closed while they worked.

If you usually walk to events or use the Ravine Park path for evening loops, check MTA's announcements page before you head to Rec 5 on Ainamakua Drive for Bingo or the craft fair.

Card fees, guest rules and tenant transfers are MTA policies that can change. This post is general information, not legal or financial advice, so confirm your household's status with MTA directly.

At Sue's HI Homes, we keep track of how Mililani actually works for residents, down to which events need an MTA card.
